Lots of discussion around when the price went up, no one saying a thing with the price going down.

Almost back to pre-Covid pricing...What was it 3 years ago, about $80?

That's where I saw that price, too.
And the best thing, they're the only ones who don't have all the wire locked up.
That because Menard's is too cheap to do anything they don't have to do.

Their outdoor lumber yards are still lit with HPS, that are so dim the place is dangerous as night. Until someone gets hurt out there and they get sued, they aren't going to fix them....Ironically they sell commercial LED yard lights in their store!

Their IT systems are in the late 90s and their on-line commerce reflects that. Lowes/Home Depot have much better IT systems and hence customer experience.

Menards does beat both on pricing though.

Is that a Menards-only rebate? My closest Menards is 195 miles away.

Does that price include shipping? My local HD has it for $108, too.

Ground shipping would cost me $11.36 and I am only 16 miles away, so no savings over the HD if you have to have it shipped.

Last time that I purchased a 250' roll of NM-B it came in a cardboard container and cost $25. Only did residential jobs for friends and was lucky to do only commercial work last 30 years. Still have maybe 40' of this roll in my garage. Almost had a heart attack when walking thru a big box store and seen it going for $250 a roll a few years ago. Finally got smart and rather then give away expensive wire on free jobs would tell them to pick up some Romex & GFCI'S. Can remember back in the early 1960's helping my dad on a 100 amp services where he would only charge $125 for the job.

Mail in rebates are a bit of a scam. The companies that use them depend on a significant number of customers forgetting or not taking the trouble to mail them in, plus for the ones that do get mailed in they get to use the extra money for as long as it takes them to receive and process the forms, mail the checks, and for the checks to clear.

it is kind of like an income tax refund.

I have items I generally purchase at supply house and items I generally purchase at Menards. Plus we have personal items that get purchased at Menards. My wife is the one that snatches up the rebate receipts and sends them in. Right now she has accumulated around $800 in rebate vouchers. She has some projects at home she plans to use these for when time is right. They don't expire but are only good at Menards.

That 11% rebate usually goes away around Thanksgiving time but comes back sometime in January. The rebate vouchers are still good all the time.

I wonder how that’s supposed to be treated from a tax perspective?

If you use to purchase more items that would be business expenses it is no different than using a coupon or other discount from the seller.

If you use the voucher to purchase personal items it doesn't impact your business income. If they don't send you a 1099, IRS won't know you received these extra funds, but at same time they are not giving you cash or a check that you can do whatever you wish with, it is something you must use at their stores.
