Buzzing Lights

I have just finished my basement and I have 10 can lights each with a 65W bulb on a 3-way dimmer switch that is rated for 1000W. When I turn the lights on at full capacity they are fine but when I start to dim the lights I get a buzzing sound coming from the lights which gets worse the more I dim. This is the second dimmer switch I have tried, the first dimmer was only rated for 600W with the same result.

Try high quality halogen lamps.

how expensive are they? I am using sylvania 65W halogens right now.

Do you have a bad connection in the neutral somewhere?

no i went back and respliced everything.

It's usually the lamps, not the dimmer.

Why lamps hum.

Switch to a quality dimmer. If that doesn't solve it, locate a lamp with more filament supports.

Do you have a bad connection in the neutral somewhere?

(On a 120 VAC single phase load (assuming a 2 wire branch circuit) why do you think a neutral would cause any more issues than a lose ungrounded conductor?
