BX cable temperature rating

I think NEC will tell you what you need to know. First, verify what type of cable it actually is. BX is a brand name for AC Cable. If it is AC, then look at 320.80. If it's MC look at 330.12. Those references will not tell you specifics but will tell you the required ampacity of the conductors and the termination ampacity.

This BX cable is the type with paper wrapped around conductor insulation. No marking at all on insulation.

Paper wrap, I believe, would be AC.
334.80 requires that the conductor insulation be 90?, but that ampacity be limited to the 60? rating, as with NM.

oppps! My bad! I will learn to read one day. WHEN INSTALLED IN THERMAL INSULATION the ampacity will be limited to 60?, otherwise 110.14
(Thank you, Chris)

Yup the thermal insulation is the requirement for the 60 degree rating, just use MC and your good for 75 degree even in insulation.
