I have a job due to appearance I am trying to use a smaller cabinet. The dimension's are 24" tall 32" wide 10" deep with ( 12 ) 250 al conductors. I am not sure if you tried to figure cubic inch you still have 2 C.T.'s inside. This is for a single phase 400amp. I have dealt more with 3phase 600amp and up and install a cabinet that is 44" in length.

If the NEC applies to this cabinet (which I doubt) you do not size it per the cubic inches. You must size it per the raceway sizes, quantities and locations.

I think it is likely that this CT cabinet is under the exclusive control of the utility and the utility would have to tell you the minimum size they allow.
