I will be wiring 1 signal wire(spec. stp#16)for a transducer in a wet well, 5 Intrinsically safe level floats(spec.3/c#14)wire,4#1THWN pump feeds w2 4/c#14 sensor wires from a control panel on a outside rack to a nema 4x jb on top of the wet well. The spec's.call for meltric switch rated plugs on the bottom of the jb supplied by the vendor. Q,Help with the correct wire/cable types, and what class would the CP outside on the rack be(50' away from the wet well),and can the sensor wires be installed in the same conduit as the pumps? Need help new to this type of work. Thanks so much.

Most of your questions can be answered by referring to article 504.

You can't install IS wiring in the same conduit as non-IS wiring.
504.30 Separation of Intrinsically Safe Conductors.
(A) From Nonintrinsically Safe Circuit Conductors.
(1) In Raceways, Cable Trays, and Cables. Conductors of
intrinsically safe circuits shall not be placed in any raceway,
cable tray, or cable with conductors of any nonintrinsically
safe circuit.

By CP do you mean control panel? If, so the classification there is whatever is on the classification drawings. However, if the IS barriers are in that CP, it needs to be non-classified, at least inside the CP.

The control panel spec is nema 3R,just wondering if it fell into a class 1 local. The float wires are piped seperate, with barriers inside the nema 4x jb.The Q was the pump sensor wires are shown on the one line in the same 2'' with the pumps.

The sensor wires to the pumps could go in the same conduit as the power wires, but you would not be able to wire them as instrinisically safe. But since they are in an XP conduit system, they would not need to be IS anyway.

As long as the N4X JB where you located the IS barriers is in a non-classified area, I think you are OK.

You will need to label the IS JB and conduits so it is known there are IS circuits in the JB and conduit.
