Guys I have been looking in 500 and can't find a requirement for temperature switches within motors located in a classified area.

Historically I have always pulled the temp switches and field disconnect for VFD statuses back to monitor them and shutdown if either was a open.

We are on a job now and they are not monitoring the disconnect or temperature. Any help would be great.

It may have been that we have always done things like this and just ASSuMEd it was a code requirement.

You'll have a tough time finding it in Article 500; you should have been looking in Section 501.125(A) [Subsection 501.125(A)(1) in particular] - but you won't find it there either. It simply isn't an NEC requirement. It may be a NRTL certification requirement for some manufacturers, but even that is unlikely for most NEMA design explosionproof motors. A Class F insulated motor with a Class B temperature rise will not have a problem in most classified locations if it has proper overload protection.
