CA solar installations.

Anyone done any calculations on how much the solar mandates might add to your bottom line?

Anyone in CA planning on expanding into solar installs?

I would presume that a minimum installed capacity will be required? None of the news articles I’ve read mention this.

Without some minimum, one could install a small sub-100 watt Harbor Freight panel in order to be compliant.

One article mentioned “average” installation size of 2.5 - 4 KW. I think that is talking about the current installed base.

it's a pretty brutal aspect of construction, from what my wholesale house says about it.

the electrician hooks up the array, everything else is done by others.
if you aren't selling material, and you aren't selling labor.... :happysad:

I did some digging and there is something called an 'Energy Design Rating' that goes into it. I presume that means the required system size derives out of other CA energy code calcs required for new houses, but I'm not knowledgeable about details. They estimated it would save owners $80 a month, which would be ballpark a 3kw system. But I think that's an average.
