we are reviewing a subcontract offer of 6 MW, MV system. The design they propose uses CAB Hanger, above ground DC and AC wiring to MV transformer skids.
we met a field supervisor, saying he hates the CAB Hanger. I am trying to find some pros and cons to decide what's the best. if we can avoid tons of trench work in the wet cold days, to me, it's a win. can somebody explain what are the cons using this?
Thanks

CAB is a particular manufacturer, messenger systems is the more general term. If you are looking for pros and cons for messenger systems pros would be, no trenching, easy access to conductors, quicker to install, the messenger can act as the EGC, conductor sizing is a little more generous than conduit or DB. Cons are exposed conductors, need careful layout to avoid blocking access to rows, experience picking out the correct hangers to separate conductors. There is a manufacturer with a FRP hanger that I am not sold on, I prefer metal.
I'd be interested in hearing what the field supervisor hates about them.
