Can anyone recommend a luminaire for inside a built-in wine glass cabinet. I have access to the soffit area above this cabinet for intallation. Ideally, it would be similar to a 20W halogen puck light, built into a can, line or low voltage. Thanks, Bob

Re: cabinet lighting

i have dealt with this before. the puck lights that you are referring to are good for this application. they are easy to install and maintain. all you need is a power source. however, i have consulted lighting engineers on this subject and they say to be carefull not to install these lights so that they may entrap heat. especially on combustible surfaces. the instalation of the fixture has to be able to allow the heat to escape.

Re: cabinet lighting

Most puck lights say not to install in an enclosed cabinet, and the wiring can not be concealed behind building finishes. This dramatically reduces the applications they can be used for. I usually use a Juno three inch recessed light. You need about 5-7 inches clearance above the cabinet. I will ususally cut into the ceiling to get the depth I need provided the cabinet is built in. This fixture is FAR superior to any puck. The model number is something like TC18-183
