Cable bundles

While shopping and looking at a new house under construction, I was checking out the electrical installation and noticed two wire bundles going to the electrical panel.

Each bundle had approximately 12-15 cables and ran for about 30 feet before eventually breaking off to the loads.

While this looks neat, I am sure there are derating factors to take into account.

I would think the AHJ would not pass, but who knows.

Any thoughts or references since these are in "open air"?

Re: Cable bundles

Russ,

I assume you mean 310.15(B)(2)?

Thank you. I got hungup on the raceway thing.

They are not in a raceway, so 310.15(B)(2)(a) applies:

"or where single conductors or multiconductor cables are stacked or bundled longer thatn 600mm (24 in.) without maintaining spacing and are not installed in raceways, the allowable ampacity of each conductor shall be reduced as shown in Table 310.15(B)(2)(a)."
