Cable cross section

Hello guys,

I want to ask you one question which is not very difficulat but may be somewhere I wrong.

So we have 2500 kW hydropower plant. And we want to transfer the produced electricity to the substation which is 1000 m away from plant. So what will be the cross section (mm2) of the 20 KV aluminium cable with max. 3% voltage drop which we want to use. Thanks in advance.

Is the voltage 20 kv? Will the cable be underground? If so is it in conduit or direct burial?

Hello Bob,

The voltage is 20 KV.

1. I choose this type: http://www.filkab.com/files/category_files/file_1798_bg.pdf

2. In plastic duct laid 1,3 m depth

Expected maximum ambient temperature? 30 C

3% allowable voltage-drop value

And also we will use 0,4/20/3200 KVA transformer to incease the voltage from the hydroplant from 380 V to 20 kV.

If you have any other quetions you can write me personal message.

Thanks in advance.
