A recent installation at our plant brought up some debate over cable drops or "chord" drops. Here is the situation our people dropped a cable out of an LB with a strain relief "Chinese fingers" about 20' to a box mounted on the side of an auger. This auger is on wheels and gets moved everynight for cleaning. My problem is that everything is hardwired meaning no plugs. It is my interpretation that the cable needs supported to the ceiling with a kellums grip. I don't believe the LB is suitable for support. Any help with code section that helps support my claim would be helpful. Thanks guys!

Sorry, but I don't see Code as very specific on support. The requirement is tension not be transmitted to terminations. 2011 Informational Note on the matter...

Some methods of preventing pull on a
cord from being transmitted to joints or terminals are knotting
the cord, winding with tape, and fittings designed for
the purpose.
