Cable Gland Selection - Armour Range

Generally from the cable bedding diameter and the overall the cable diameter to select the cable gland from the manufacturer catalogue.

Any idea on how the armour range in the gland catalogue (attached) affects the selection of cable glands?

In my opinion, the gland is provided with an elastomer sealing ring -in order to comply with hazardous location requirements. This ring is limited in dimensions.
However, other manufacturer-like Appleton, for instance-does not limit the tape armor thickness-it seems to me.
