I know I've read somewhere that cable impedance helps with available fault current, the longer the cable run the less available fault.

Anyone familiar with what I'm talking about?

Thanks

Yes the more impedance in the conductors the less available fault current at the load end of the conductors.

Cooper Bussman has a available fault current calculator that can be used to determine the available fault current in a system. This calculator uses the conductors impedance to determine the available fault current.

Mike also has a free on-line fault current calculator available HERE just click on the free fault current calculator.
