Cable installation in cable tray

Hello,

I have a new cable tray and need to get cables from existing cable tray into the new one. The new cable tray is perpendicular to the old one. Old cable tray stops when it reaches the new cable tray. Both trays are at the same elevation and i can't change elevation.

Do i need to get a cable tray "Tee" or can cables be routed from the existing cable tray over the new cable tray side rail (6")?

I coudn't find any publications preventing cables from being routed over the cable tray side rails...

Thanks,

Mike

Most cable tray systems have "T" and other configs.

Not really a code issue as much as it is workmanship issue.

Thanks,

I agree there allowed to be discontinous, but he was saying that he wanted to butt into the side rail of the tray. Not very professional IMO. I can see flowing off the end and onto another, but not into the side rail when they make fittings for that use.
