TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN.
I HAVE BEEN AN ELECTRICIAN NOW FOR 18 YEARS AND SERVED MY APPRENTICESHIP IN ENGLAND, I HAVE NOW MOVED TO LATIN AMERICA, HONDURAS, WHERE THINGS HERE ARE A LOT DIFFERENT, AS I AM SEEKING EMPLOYMENT HERE , I WOULD JUST LIKE TO KNOW WHAT ELECTRICAL CODES EXIST HERE, AND HOW TO GO ABOUT CABLE SELECTION , MAINLY FOR DOMESTIC PROPERTIES, LIGHTING AND POWER ETC, FOR EXAMPLE IN THE UK IT WAS LIKE THIS. VOLTS / DIVIDE BY WATTS = AMPS, WHAT CALCULATIONS ARE USED HERE TO DETERMINE THESE FACTORS , OR IS THERE AN NEC BOOKLET WHICH GIVES AN OVERSIGHT TO THE REGULATIONS HERE. [/LIST]

Re: CABLE SELECTION

I know the NEC is in use in many Latin American countries. Is there not a local government agenct that can direct you with building requirements?

Your calculation needs to be reversed. I=P/E :)

Re: CABLE SELECTION

from talking to some people from different countries down there, I think you may find widely differing attitudes. In the city's there may be codes but farther away its anybodys guess. I know in mexico the have some people who's job is to latch on the pole wires to get free electric on job sites and such. A scary practice! good luck
