cable selection

i am designing an electrical system for a tretment plant, its my v first exp. i hv problems with the selection of cables. i could get help from catlogues of the manufacturers but i want to know WHAt aspects are considered during the selection.or is there a matematical formula for that.
can anyone help me to pop up with da problem of selection criteria..plzzz

You're being rather impatient, considering that (a) it's Sunday, (b) it's only been a half hour, (c) we don't get paid for what we do here, and (d) this is your first day in the forum.

Additionally, your questions suggest that you are grossly under-qualified to do the work you're telling us you want to do. This is not the right way to learn at your client's expense.
 
iasked that question with due respect...and as far as myqualification is concerned i am graduate in electrical engineering.
i am really impressed by the way u ppl help others to sort out there problems.

Judging from Atifkhan's name. I suspect he is from a foreign country which would explain his typodyslexia.
To answer the question, there is a section in the Code--somewhere in the 300 range-- concerning the types of cable insulation. However, for most practical purposes, THHN or THWN is the cable of choice. Probably the only one available easily.
For the choice of conduit, Champion, sent me a nice little catalogue about their fiberglass conduit. This might have some advantages in an industrial enviroment.
