Hello everyone,
I'm looking into doing some work for friends from my church. I am licensed but mostly do commercial work; I do residential on the side and still have some familiarizing to do with the code.
The first job requested is running a 50A circuit from the garage panel through the attic to feed a sub panel on the the backyard patio wall, creating an easier location to run (minimal) circuits from for the backyard. In transitioning from the attic to the panel, my plan was to run a PVC sleeve up through the soffit above and into the attic to run the SER cable through.
I have two main questions about this:
1. Will the staples before the transition to PVC be sufficient supports, or does there need to be some kind of strain relief fir the cable at the panel connetion to comply with code? I wouldn't even know what material to get for that.
2. Is it code compliant to run SER cable through a PVC sleeve like that?
Feedback appreciated.
Thank you,
-Jesse
