Not sure which forum this belongs in so I stuck it here.

I’ve needed one for years. Anyone have recommendations on a good wire and cable tracer? Can some of them work on a hot circuit?

I spent several hours hunting down some romex from a 6 gang box down to the basement and switching to thwn to go out a conduit to feed some fountain and waterfall pumps and lighting. A lot of running up and down and outside. Someone else ran the wiring 10 years ago to prepare for this new pond in the front yard that was only installed this month.

I’ve seen the kind that plugs into an outlet and you check at the breaker for a signal. I want something that can be used for low voltage or 120vac wiring and I can clip it on the wires and maybe come with an option of plugging in.

Thanks, Dale

Thanks guys. Man, some of these kits are very expensive. I need/want a good one though and will need to budget for one in those price ranges.

To finish up this job next weekend I need to find a decent one that can work with power off. I might just get a cheaper toner tracer to get me by this time.

I'll keep watching this thread for more suggestions.
