Cable Tray Conductors

Are thhn or xhhw-2 conductors suitable for cable tray installation ? Does the conductor have to be factory labled as TC ?

NEC 392 has the table for what goes in a cable tray. Power and control tray cables are listed. UL listed tray cable would have the THHN/THWN wires contained in a PVC jacket.

See 392.3(B)(1). Single conductor conductors 1/0 and larger can be used in cable tray if marked on the jacket "CT use". I checked the online catalogs of 3 manufacturers and found that their 1/0 and larger THWN conductors are marked for cable tray use.
