Cable tray fill

I have a ladder type cable tray with some 3 cond #2 xhhw MC cables installed in it. I am having trouble interperating how to figure the cross sectional area of the cable. Table 392.9 says a 18" cable tray has an area of 21" sq. Can any one give an example on how to determine how many cables I can legally install in this tray. The OD of the cable is 1.25". Thank you in advance for your help

Sorry, I noticed upon reading your post thoroughly that you have a Cable, not a conductor.
Area = pi x [radius squared]

[ 1.25/2] squared x 3.14 = 1.226 cross sectional area for the MC.
