Got to thinking about several big cable tray runs I used to work on. I enjoyed installing tray except for 1 main irritation. Most tray came with hardware. The bolts were usually “fluted” under the head, notched to bite into the tray when tightened. OK except that we often broke close to half of them. They were too weak for the torque needed to draw them into the mounting holes. I’m sure the thinking was to keep good bonding. We usually replaced broken ones with short 1/4 or 3/8 bolts, flat washers & star washers.
Totally senseless to have design control & mismatch the parts so badly.
