Hi

We have one doubt about nec, because the minimun size in cable tray is 1/0, but nec 690 says that we can use PV wire of all sizes in cable trays outdoor. So, can we install dc cable 10 AWG in cable tays in one roof?

The 1/0 limitation is found in 392.20(D) which is in chapter 3 of the NEC.

(D) Single Conductors. Where any of the single conductors
installed in ladder or ventilated trough cable trays are 1/0
through 4/0 AWG, all single conductors shall be installed in a
single layer. Conductors that are bound together to comprise
each circuit group shall be permitted to be installed in other
than a single layer.

690.31(C)(2) which is what you posted is in NEC chapter 6.

So the question becomes which one can you follow? For that we go to article 90.

90.3 Code Arrangement. This Code is divided into the
introduction and nine chapters, as shown in Figure 90.3.
Chapters 1, 2, 3, and 4 apply generally; Chapters 5, 6, and
7 apply to special occupancies, special equipment, or other
special conditions. These latter chapters supplement or modify
the general rules. Chapters 1 through 4 apply except as
amended by Chapters 5, 6, and 7 for the particular conditions.

Chapter 8 covers communications systems and is not subject
to the requirements of Chapters 1 through 7 except where
the requirements are specifically referenced in Chapter 8.

Chapter 9 consists of tables that are applicable as referenced.
Informative annexes are not part of the requirements of
this Code but are included for informational purposes only.

So you can use the relaxed requirements for cable tray found in 690 for PV systems.

That's not a 1/0 limitation. It just says that if the wires are 1/0 through 4/0 they need to be in a single layer. It doesn't say that the wires have to be 1/0 or larger.
