Support for the cables inside or for the tray?
What type of tray? Ladder or ventilated, metal or aluminum wire or flat solid bottom?
It may be in the assembly specs.
No requirements in the NEC. Depends on the tray/ladder type the support requirement is tray type and load dependent. Eg. the same tray can be supported with greater interwals for fewer cables. The tray test is for the designated load and a 200# dead load in midspan.
IMO trays should always be supported to their maximum capacity.
110.3(B) is what I'd lean towards for proper installation. If it is new tray it should come with documentation, or at least the manufacturer's name to contact for clarification.
