Did I do this calc right for sizing a generac generator?
The customer has a 600amp service that supplies power to four sub panels. Three 200amp sub panels inside the main house plus a third 200amp sub panel for an addition that was just added by another contractor. The customer wants at least two of the 200amp sub panels located in the east garage on the generator but I am also exploring the option of adding the third sub panel which is located in the west garage. One of the two east sub panels powers two AC units while the third west sub panel powers two other AC units.
I am considering a 35kW (115 usable amps) unit if I just do two sub panels or a 48kW (160 usable amps) unit if I do all three. And obviously if I am just doing the two sub panels, that cancels out 2/3's of the home branch circuits so technically the square footage part of the load calculation is not entirely accurate for the two sub panel load calc.
