Start with Chapter 9 table 4 which will give the conduit area. Then look up the conductor area in Chapter 9 table 8. Let us know what you come up with.

As I posted on an earlier thread. I've taken and passed the ICC Master's Exam a couple of months ago and I kinda recognize the question but that wasn't the question as he had wrote. I believe it was more like what size conduit was used for the conductors given in the question. It was like finding the sqare inches of the conductors and sizing them with proper conduit. I'm only stating this because I wouldn't want to give wrong info where to find because his question didn't make sense to me.

common question on the Icc test. The question is for a 3-1/2 rigid metal conduit with 4 - 350 kcmil thwn conductors. to answer this question, just take the total area of the conductors which is 2.0968 square inches per chapter 9 table 5 and then divide that by the total area of the conduit which is 10.01 square inches per chapter 9 table 4 and you get .209. move your decimal over 2 places to get a % and you see that the correct answer is 20.9% or on the test it is 20-30% Do NOT use Chapter 9 Table 8 for conduit fill you will get the wrong answer. You must use Chapter 9 Table 5 for conduit fill. Table 8 does not include insulation.

You're correct. I should have referenced table 5 for the conductor properties. Thanks for the correction.

How could you get that?

How could you get that?

How do you get 62% when you have 2.0968 square inches of conductors in an area of 10.01 square inches? To get a percentage all you have to do is divide the 2 numbers and move your decimal over 2 places. 2.0968 / 10.01 = .209 or 20.9%.

I was using 2" rigid. Misread the post. I thought he meant question 31 (31/2)
