I am currently in the process of adding and attached ADU to my house in California. 504sq ft 1 bedroom.
My existing home panel is 100 amps. I am planning to upgrade to a dual meter 200amp main panel to feed the house and the ADU.
Currently the electrical plan is calling out 125 amp subpanel for the ADU. This leaves only 75amps for the house panel.
I am working these questions with MEP engineer but wanted a second option. My gut tells me I should try to split the panel 100amps for the ADU and 100amps for the main house and to stick with common panel sizes and have panel space if I ever renovate the main house.
Questions:
Do they even make a 75 amp panel that will work for my application?
Do you think 75amps is enough for the main panel?
Thanks
