In case any Californians missed it, our Govenor just signed "enforcement" of the state licensing for apprentices and journeyman requirements into law. I am waiting for the Bonding Companies to ask every Electrical Contractor for a list of the license numbers of their employees.

Its coming really quick. We currently have a few guys who need to get certified ASAP. I am already working on getting certified in other states as we do alot of out of town work. It suck the other states don not accept CA cert. to work in there state.

California needs to become more industry friendly, isolationism won't help anyone, when it comes to licensing. It works both ways when people want to work in a state other than California, and have reciprocity. Considered getting a license for their state, but don't see a reason to rush over and get one now.

that's interesting..... any links to this that you know of?

hm. here's a link to the abstract......

http://info.sen.ca.gov/pub/07-08/bill/sen/sb_1351-1400/sb_1362_bill_20080221_introduced.pdf

there is language in there allowing three uncertified workers to
work under one certified worker. did this make it into law?

as i read this, that renders state certification mostly worthless.
the apprentice to journeyman ratio is a perennial arguing point
in all IBEW negotiations, but as i understand this, you would only
need 1/4 of the workers to be certified.

anyone have any insight on this?
