any one has taken the California contractors exam c-10? easy? hard? what do you think about it?

I think it was pretty easy for me only took it once both the trade and law. I think they should made it harder and more calculation questions.

a blind dog with a note in it's mouth could pass, i believe.

when i took the calif. state journeyman's license exam,
i signed up for an online prep course for $60. online practice questions...
but it was a lame course... there were questions in it that had
the wrong answers listed as correct... my scores were low, and
finally i got so pissed at the thing i quit practicing and just went
in and took the test.. took an hour, got a 94%. so, i guess
the prep worked... at least it got me familiar with a lot of the
test questions.... right or wrong.

i signed up for a similar course when i went for the C-10....
i never used the class at the facility, or the books, just
started taking the practice test until i got consistently
above 90%, then went in and took the test... took 35 minutes.
don't know what the score was, they don't tell you, but i passed.

should the questions be harder? dunno... in southern california,
most of the little guys running around doing stuff wouldn't
bother to take the test either way.... there isn't, to my knowledge,
much enforcement of either the journeyman's license or the
contractors's license requirement....

I took the C-10 a couple of weeks ago. You will need to prepare for the law exam, which all classifications of contractors take. And of course you should study for the trade (electrical) test too, but I found that test to be easier than the state journeyman certification exam. I'm not sure how strict the enforcement for journeyman certification is but I would not contract work without a C-10, it's just is not worth it.

Randy, I couldn't agree more. I took the trade (C10) & law exams in 12/03, and the state finally got around to issuing my number in 6/04. I believe this state is only after money, and truly does not care about licensing. Sure, you read about sting operations, but they're only busting the big companies. Unfortunately, this state doesn't have enough (wo)man power to bust all the hacks out there, who are truly taking food off of my dinner table. As a one man operation in Southern California, I'm competing against illegal aliens and unlicenses contractors, who are working for a dollar an hour. It's ridiculous. I'm throwing in the towel. I sold my house last December, and am moving out of state in July or August. I'll be turning in my Journeyman Electrician exam application in a week or two, and will hopefully be taking the exam in early July.

I agree, the exam is pretty expensive. I think the contractors lic. focus more on the law then the trade.
