Over the past year, the Contractors State License Board (CSLB) has significantly expanded its outreach efforts to educate Californians, especially vulnerable people, on the importance of hiring licensed contractors and understanding their rights when it comes to construction and home improvement services.

I have hired non-contractors to do work around my shop that did better work than licensed contractors. The non-license just didn’t want to deal with all the bureaucracy. License really doesn’t mean anything if as long as you’re good and ethical, it shouldn’t matter there’s a lot of crooked contractors with the license.
 
Plus, contracting board doesn’t do anything to help the client all they do is slap fees that they collect and let the client deal with it on their end. It doesn’t there’s no benefit to this system besides milking you for more money

And a false sense of security
