I'm currently a Journeyman electrician in the state of Kansas but we might possibly be moving to the San Francisco area in a few months. I was wanting to know if California would recognize my Kansas license or would I have to take the test again once I moved? Any information would be great!

Are you wanting to get a contractors lic. or a electricians card? If you want a contractors lic. see the above link, otherwise you need the Division of Apprenticeship Standards, DAS.

CA State Certification and C-10 contractors license

When I called to schedule the exam for the California State Electrician Certification, it took $150, and I was able to schedule it the next day. I took the test in 2006, passed, and they immediately gave me a temporary number to use.

The C-10 test took me 10 months (from the time I sent the forms in to the time I was issued a license number). But that was in 2002 and I read that it's much quicker now, but I bet it's still 6 months.

Their both just as hard as the other, in my opinion. Only the C-10 has a law section too. Take both if you have at least 4 years in the trade.
I was amazed that holding a C-10 didn't allow me to be employed, I was required to get the Certification also.
oh well.
