California re-certification

Certification is valid for three years. You must renew before the expiration or you have to retake the test.

In order to renew your certification you must complete 32 hours of classes.

A 6 hour class costs about $150.00 in my area.In order to complete the 32 hour requirement I will end up spending about $800.00 on classes and a $100.00 renewal fee.

So here's the question.Why not just retake the test?

I can pay $175.00 to retake the test and it will take me two hours to finish it
OR
I can pay $900 dollars and spend 32 hours in a classroom.

It's a no brainer.I'm retaking the test.

What area do you live in?

I am also aware of pricey ceu courses, but there are cheaper ones out there.

Both IBEW and Merit shops have programs that are cheaper than that.

After a second thought, I am unaware of
any CEU courses that are as informative
and less expensive than those offered at
the IBEW. At IBEW Local 441, you pay the
cost of books , and that's it. I base this
statement upon facts and experience. After
my original post, I checked out the ABC, misc tech
schools, and seminars........I'm sure that most
are very good, but as you stated ...very expensive.
