I'am mounting a camera in a class 1 div 1 location . I have to run pipe about 30 feet. Do I need to put a seal off just when the pipe leaves the classified area or do I also have to put one within 18 inces of the camera? The cameras is approved for that area.

You will probably need both. One seal is a boundary seal the other is an integrity seal for the camera. If the boundary seal were within 18" of the camera it could serve both purposes.

If the camera manufacturer certifies that it is a fully factory sealed device, then it may not need the integrity seal. Read the literature carefully.

Also , I have to put an lb to leave the classified area , I am planning to put a seal before the lb , Is this ok or should the lb be put before the seal and a seal on the unclassified side? When sealing around the penetration that I have to make trough the wall , is duct seal all I have to put? Does the Lb have to be explosion proof? Sorry but I dont do much haz loc work .

A standard LB is not permitted in a Class I, Division 1 area. The LB for this application will have a threaded cover.

appleton makes a pretty nice explosionproof threaded LB. probably costs a pretty penny

Don one more question I see all fittings have to be rated how about standard threaded couplings (pipe to pipe)? Sorry if this is a moronic question.

There are no special couplings for conduit installed in Classified areas, however unions used in Class I, Division 1 must be approved for the area.

I am assuming a wall creates the Division1/unclassified boundary. The boundary seal is permitted on either side of the boundary, so the explosionproof LB is permitted in the Division 1 side and the seal in the unclassified side. Nothing except listed reducers is permitted between the seal and the boundary. See Section 501.14(A) (4).

The external raceway seal is more problematic since it is more a building code issue rather than a direct NEC issue. The structural integrity and fire rating of the wall must be maintained. A transom piece design may be necessary. Other considerations may be if the unclassified side has a maintained positive pressure with respect to the Division 1 side of the wall.
