We recently stayed at a campground that had a lot of flagrent code violations. They did have some new wiring for some areas that I couldn't see. These pictures at the following link show many of the violations.

I also sent this address to Joe's web page.
When we arrived at this location some of the open juntion boxes were under water or had water nearby drainage areas. We selected a spot next to the service entrance where any problems with electric service would not effect us. We were here less than a week without any problems.

This looks like a problem waiting to happen.

Re: Campground wiring

There should be safety inspections on all public facilities and fines alloticated to pay for this service. Insurance is great but it will not replace a lost member of ones body or a lost life due to this kind of negligence!!!

Re: Campground wiring

Iceman this is the same problem we have here in indiana. there is nothing done untill ether somone gets hurt or killed or enough tax payers get together and complaine loudly. It wasn't untill a few years ago that the state launched a campain against trailer park to get the trailers properly hooked up as the trailer fires were getting bigger and fire department personel were tired of trying to figure out how to disconnect the power to them as there was no disconects or four-wire ran to the trailers. Put a fireman at risk and when they complain EF Hutton would have to listen LOL :p

Re: Campground wiring

I agree. The sad thing about it is most of the trailer parks did switch to a four wire system, but a lot of them put in 200A pedistals feeding a 100A main breaker box inside the home. How long do you think that feeder will last if there is a problem??

Re: Campground wiring

Iceman This is allowed as the 100 amp breaker will protect the feeder wire as there is usally less that 10' of wire inside of the trailer. and the short circuit ratting will still trip the 200 amp breaker if the feeder under ground shorted out.
2) The installation of the service equipment shall comply with Article 230.
I seem to not beable to find it but some where it allows for the main breaker to protect the feeders.
