Would it be permissible to use an existing standby generator located several buildings away to serve an additional campus building? Capacity on the generator is not an issue. I'm just wondering about code limitations regarding distance or generators serving multiple buildings. The generator would feed both life-safety and emergency loads in the building. Thanks...

You should be fine.
Just follow all codes as you would if that genset was right outside the electric room.

Voltage drop is not a code issue.
Each building requires a disconnect for the generator feeder.

You mention "standby generator" and then state it feeds life-safety and emergency loads. There is a huge difference between Art 700 and Art 701 generators. Before we go any further, please clarify what classification the generator will be.
Example for a Article 700 generator, all the load wiring must be kept completely separate from non emergency wiring.

I would agree. I might also add that there may be some issues with the service arrangement. Does the service at the building with the genset also supply the second building VIA a feeder or does it have its own service? If the second building has it's own service I would argue that the genset would have to be a SDS with a switched neutral to avoid violating 250.24(A)(5).
