Ever see cables passing through rated walls with fire stopping foam spray? Don't these need to be in a conduit sleeve for protection?

MC cables are typically rated for penetration through fire rated partitions up to 2 hours without sleeves.

By protection you mean protection against physical damage or protection against fire spreading to other side?

Protection against physical damage, are cables protected by passing through a core through a wall without a sleeve and simply packed with fire stopping material?

IMO, that depends how you interpret "physical protection". I know there are sleeves that will protect and provide the fire putty.

There are a gazillion (well, actually about 300) FM methods for penetrating a wall and every firestop product will include or point you to the literature displaying the methods for which their product is approved. I poked around the 3M site and found this. It will do what you want but it is limited to 1 or 2 hour rating, plus you'll have to dig up some of the additional information on the exact construction of the wall.
