Can I make my own KOs on a meter/breaker can

Hello,

Can I make my own KOs on this meter can? I am going to replace 5 old subpanels with 5 of these square Ds homeline meter breaker combo.

I want to line them up on the bottom with the feeder wires running through the bottom of the cans with chase nipples and bring in the branch circuits from the top making my KOs. But not sure if all that is going to fly with the inspector.

I take it you are running service entrance conductors to the meters. In that case you cannot run branch circuit conductors through the meter sections. 230.7. So unless there are partitions inside that allow you to run out the top without being in the same section (unclear to me from spec sheet, but I would guess there aren't), then... No, your plan doesn't work.

If it were not for that, say if there are partitions around the meter....It would be okay to make your own KOs in the top as long as you used sealing connectors such as myers hubs.
 
You are replacing the meters sockets or just the panel? If you are keeping the existing meters why are you using a combination service entrance device and not a basic loadcenter?

If you are replacing the meters with these they are top feed only.

Not always, they would be marked as underground or above ground only, and OP lists as OH only. There are many supply houses stocking the dual direction meter/disconnect vs stocking each individual type, and I have used them. There is a dedicated channel used for the underground feed service conductors that can be removed when feeding from OH.

They do make them but this (OP suggested model) is not one.
OP is in my state that is under USERC requirements. Underground entrance requires a large dedicated, seal-able pull section.

I don't see that in 230.7, as a meter section is not a raceway or cable. Having said that, putting a branch circuit through a meter enclosure would be pretty odd.

If for whatever reason I had to use those panels you show and depending on heights of things, I'd replace the existing breaker panels with pullboxes. Run pipe horizontal traveling left from those. Below the horizontal branch circuit pipes mount a trough for your service entrance wiring. Set the new meter combos below the trough. Reroute the existing service entrance conduit into the trough. Bring your branch circuit pipes down around the leftmost meter and back up into the breaker sections of those panels.

Or better yet use meter panels for U/G feed such as SU816F100PS and set a trough below them.
 
Committee (EUSERC) was formed in 1983 when the Southern California group PUSERC (formed in 1947) and the Northern California group WUESSC (formed in 1950) merged. At this time there were approximately 40 utilities involved. There are now 80 utilities involved in EUSERC from 14 states. The purpose of the organization is to promote uniform electric service requirements among the member utilities, publish existing utility service requirements for electric service equipment and provide direction for development of future metering technology. EUSERC's goal is to support the development of metering and service equipment that is safe and cost effective to the serving agencies and their customers, and to establish manufacturing and installation requirements for metering and service equipment that are acceptable to all member utilities.
 
Go to the drawings.

If you look at the technical drawing, there is a note on the left hand of the page that states, "OPTIONAL OVERHEAD BARRIER TUNNEL KIT. ORDER CAT NO OHBS WHEN REQUIRED FOR LOAD WIRES TO EXIT TOP ENDWALL. CONSULT UTILITY FOR APPROVAL."


That would allow load wires to exist the top but not the service conductors enter the bottom.
