ELLAVILLE, Ga. (AP) -- A 23-year-old woman in Schley County has been electrocuted while trying to reconnect the electrical supply to her southwest Georgia home.

Sheriff Shane Tondee said Christina Lynn had her electrical power cut off by Flint Electric in December.

Tondee says Lynn called the power company at 2:13 p.m. Feb. 5 asking how much it would cost to have her power restored.

The sheriff says when a teenage boy who was living with the Lynn family came home from school around 3:30 p.m., he found Lynn dead by the power pole.

Coroner Johnny Wall says Lynn, while climbing the 8 foot-ladder, tried to make a connection and "touched the wrong part." He says 14,400 volts were at the site.

I don't get it, for so many reasons.

How could she reach 14,400 volts from an 8' ladder? (Just one confusing part.)

Ahhh, anyone have any ideas?

Thats a sad story. As far as the 14.4KV that sounds like somebody made that up. Even if it were available on the pole she would have to have a tall ladder and touch two primary conductors.

Keep in mind it was the coroner who made this statement.
Not only that, but what he said is that 14.4 was at the site, not that she actually touched it. It's quite possible that there was 14.4 higher up on the same pole. It just doesn't get as much media splash if you explain it that way.
