Do VFDs need to be mounted such that their controls are below 6'7"? Or can they be mounted up higher and accessible via a ladder?

These VFDs are going to be located inside serving exterior fans. So these VFDs will be upstream of the disconnects located outside.

Thanks!

They are mounted above ceilings quite frequently. Just have mechanical installer plan for location to comply with working clearances in front of disconnecting means.

Watch out for having a disconnect between the VFD and the motor. It can harm the drive to kill the motor while the drive is running.

kind of an old wive's tale for modern drives. best bet though is to wire an early open aux switch from the disconnect into the drive enable input. in any case, the disconnect is not supposed to be used to shut the motor off, only to disconnect it, so it should never be opened while the motor is energized.

Exactly this. I always specify with an early open aux if I need a disconnect between the VFD and motor.
