Can you connect emt to a non metallic junction box, if so, how?

I got a non metallic junction box that needs a stub up to the ceiling and armored cable to a door opener. Should I just get pvc for the stub up or emt? If using emt what parts should I get to finish the stub up? If using pvc what parts should I get? Just want to stay within code…
