capacitive dimmer: the cheapest guy always pays the most

hi guys, i'm asked to repair a notoriously bad dimming system in fancy euro style vent hood


i wonder if it might be better to bypass it with a "touch" dimmer.
there is 70w of 12v load
the only one i found so far on the internet is 60w touch dimmer

they also think the fan "doesn't suck enough" and want to replace it with more power...:happysad:
any ideas? beside moving on...

check the vent is adequate/unobstructed
check the switch could handle a bigger squirrel
check your checkbook, do you need this?
