What kind of wall finish is the OP using?

The carlon box listed will be Behind whatever is the finished wall. Maybe a 1/2" extension ring is enough?

Tom

Found some 1/2" extensions listed at 3.5cu in. That gives him 11.5cu in.

Is there a shallow "double wide" box that one could install a single device in and cover with a double plate having only a single receptacle provision?
Yes - a 4x4x1 with a 1G ring, and the volume of the ring also counts. Or if really pressed for space - a 1/4" ring set for finish, and have the rockers hot-mud them in.

Sounds like it is after the fact, but when i see this type of thing coming I put 4sq deeps in the pour, and add a ring for the rock later.

Figured it out....

Figured it out....

according to nec the total cu. in = 11.25 I bought 4x4x1.5 boxes with 1/2" riser, tapcon into block fits perfect. I have no clue why they even sell a 8 cu. in. box.. thanks

If it were me, however, I'd break out the Bosch SDS-Max.

That is certainly one way to handle it. :)

Another way is to put this onto the person paying the bill.

'Would you like surface or flush boxes?

If you would like flush boxes you have to decide if you want to pay ($$$) an electrician to chip holes in the concrete or would you rather have the carpenter build the wall out deep enough?'

I can do a lot, and I am willing, but at the wages an electrician gets in this area you have to ask yourself if it makes sense to do everything?

I absolutely agree that the cost should be borne by the customer.

What type of construction allows a laminated wall to butt up against a buried foundation with no air space between the insulation and the concrete? None. Not only is the electrical installation noncompliant, so is the framing and insulation.
