Not thinking about it, Trying very hard but not having any luck. Not sitting in front of the TV. Beating the hell out of the computer and all the job search engines I can find. I get cheaper by the day. If I remove that fact that I am a licensed contractor off my resume, I might get hired by another contractor. But then I'm no pipe bender and commercial is all that is going anywhere within 50 miles of here.

You lost me Cavie, not hard to do. Am I a contractor if I can run pipe???

NO No. I'm an out of work Inspector/ retired contractor. I have no desire to be in busines although I would quilify one. Nope puller, no pipe bender. No contractor is going to hire another contractor because it is too easy to steal customers. I have an A/C buddy that lost 1/2 his business to his number one man who went into business himself.

I'm a contractor working for a contractor. It can and does happen. I brought costumers with me.

I have an A/C buddy that lost 1/2 his business to his number one man who went into business himself.
And that can happen too. Life stinks sometimes. :-?

The company I work for employs almost (maybe more than?) a hundred guys, and farms in more than that at the moment. They bid work appropriate for their size. I could not put a dent in that train if my life depended on it, and I think the boss knows we couldn't. :)

Here, let me help - although, I don't really get what we're going to glean from the poll...?

Edit to add: Who was going to see it in the Safety area, anyway? :D

I gotta say I'm happy right here. Retired a year ago. My pick-up has never been so neat and clean. You can see the floor of the truck now. No more pipe and ladders bangin' aroun' in the back. Best of all, no more 4:45 AM wakeup.

About 10 more degrees above zero and I'll be pretty happy where I am. I check your weather in Miami almost every day Chris and it does make me wonder what kind of morons my ancestors were to have picked this part of the world to live in. Of course I haven't shown much more intelligence by staying here!

OK, two weeks now.

Why, Chris? Why?
I was bored.

At the time we had 25 guys at the shop. I can easily say that 6 of us are happy and the rest seemed to always have feelers out and would jump for another dollar. I believe we are down to 18 now. All lay offs.

I know the Forum members are not a great representation of the industry as a whole as the poll results varify.
