Help!

The cat5 is for a diagnostic display inside a 600V panel. NEC 300.3C states the insulation has to match the rating of the highest voltage conductor. Can anyone direct me to a source for such a thing? I must be searching in the wrong places.

Sleeving the cable is really not much of an option, primarily due to manufacturing difficulties.

Thanks,

Doug

First read section 90.3, then take a look at the FPN to 300.3(C). 725.136 says regardless of the insulation voltage rating, seperation is require, and can't share the same raceway, enclosure or junction box. You are allowed to have a Class 2 circuit in that enclosure - just keep it physically separated. Often done with wiring duct...

Right now the design is separation via bundling the cat5 lines (3) together in 3/8" spiral wrap then secured at multiple points away from any higher-powered lines? One inch from the terminations, the cat5 is secured with individual adhesive sleeves. As it is, it would take 2 points (of 5) to fail to move at all, and that's still 2-2.5+ inches from contacting anything. Better?

It is amazing how many people who read 300.3(C) seem to miss this and are not really sure of the Class 2 & 3 ratings of the supply.
