On another Forum, a member has asked if CAT 6 wiring
is allowed to be installed over / on the typical dropped ceilings
[ L.A.T. type ], in a commercial building......As I understand
the question, the cables are simply laying on the acoustical
insulation and not supported / attached anywhere......The
themselves cables are rated CMR........Are raceways required,
or other means to support the cables throughout their run?.

What say ye?

Thanks Chris for the articles!....Your input led me to Article 300.11(A)
- Secured in place [ `08 NEC ].
" ...Cables and raceways shall
not be supported by ceiling grids."

I get very tempted to cut cables I find laying directly on ceilings. I have had countless jobs complicated by these cables falling in my face or hanging up in tiles when I open or close a ceiling tile. Talk me out of it, please.
