We are looking at installing ceiling fans in a cattle feeding building. The building looks like a pole barn, but with no side walls, other than support posts every 10' or so. Any thoughts on wiring methods? Article 547.5 lists the wiring methods, which I would pick PVC,but it also references Article 502 Part II, which seems to allow EMT. I do not see it as a corrosive atmosphere as described in 547.1B. The roof is bar joist with perlins on top, and rib steel.

I would suggest looking at the steel to determine if it really is corrosive or not. if it is in good shape it is probably truely not especially corrosive.

personally, I would not want EMT in such a place. OTOH, the ceiling fans will fail far faster then the EMT would if corrosion is an issue.
