Is there a code that limits the distance to how long a CATV cable can run aerial from a utility pole to the exterior of a building?
My brother had his Comcast service hooked up at his house and the distance from the utility pole to the point of attachment near the peak of the roof of his house is about 140'. That seemed a bit long to me not to mention the cable sags down to maybe 10' above ground. His house is 1 story structure.

Not that I know of, for simple CATV, unless over a pool, then 10 feet is still ok over the pool or platforms 680.8, or above roofs 820.44(D). They need to be kept away from power circuits too.

If it is network-powered broadband, it does need to be kept 11.5 feet over residential property 830.44(D), and much more over pools.

Thank you for the code references. I had not thought about it until my brother mentioned that a dump truck drove into his driveway and "snagged" the cable. For some reason I thought there might have been some code to limit the distance the cable could run from a utility pole.
Thanks again.
