Hello, Is it an NEC violation to have video cabling, and also the power wiring for the cameras only, in the same 2" PVC conduit? If a certain type of low voltage cable needs to be used, what kind does it need to be to be up to code? Is this in the NEC? Thanks. :)

Re: CCTV power and low voltage in same conduit

The signal feed cabling will be determined by the camera itself, most being coaxial with some newer market items utilizing Cat-5e.

In a perfect word, I would avoid having the power supplying line in the same conduit as the signal feeds as it will almost certainly bleed interference. Even 5-12v of current can cause interference when run parallel over 10+ feet next to the signal cable.

As for NEC articles, I don't have a reference handy to lookup any specifics.

I have been using Simtra Cable which is a new cable UL listed and comply with the NEC code section 820.52(A)(1)exception No.1. I have been using this cable on several projects with excellence result. If you need info, let me know.
