Perhaps someone can provide some help. This question has more to do with Ontario Hydro & CE Code then NEC.
I wanted to run 120 VAC PLC input wiring from one power source and another 120 VAC control circuit form a different power source in the same existing conduit to a motor local disconect. The local ESA Hydro inspector said you cannot put cables from different power supplies inside the same conduit unless they are killed from the same switch.
I have previously run multiple power wiring (from different power transformers) in the same conduit (raceway) I thought this was defined and allowed in CSA 12-904 (2) (c)
?No raceway or compartment of a multiple-channel raceway shall contain conductors that are connected to different power or distribution transformers or other sources of voltage except where the conductors:
(a) ? or
(b) ? or
(c) Are used for the supply/or control of remote devices, are insulated for at least the same voltage as that of the circuits having the highest voltage, and none of the conductors of the circuit of lower voltages is directly connected to a lighting branch circuit.?
He also told me "Cables from different power supplies rule 12-904 refers to cables in a raceway (I.e cable tray, cable duct etc.) not conduit."
I thought that the CE Code definition of Raceway included conduit?
The above rule also applies to the wiring within the disconnect enclosure itself which will have multiple power wiring sources (600 VAC power, 120VAC e-stop & plc)
