The question is about the concrete encased electrode that has to be atleast 20' long and minimum 1/2 inch in diameter per 250.52(A)(3). Does this electrode have to be straight with no bends and unbroken? Can this electrode protrude thru the concrete for later hook up?

No and Yes. There is no reason that the rebar cannot be bent. In fact, that is the way many do it so one does not have to leave a bunch of copper on the job site. You know what happens to that with the price of copper.

Get the concrete guys to stub it out and hook to it later.
